Derivation of System Integration Tests from Design Models in UML

چکیده
As model-driven software development is increasingly used, techniques to derive additional information from design models are rapidly explored. One kind of these additional information is test information. In this paper we present an approach of deriving a certain kind of test information for system integration test from a given design model. For a given domain with a generic behavioral model our approach has the ability to generate system integration tests that are specific for any design model of the same domain. The system integration tests are generated as sequence diagrams, where every diagram represents one specific test case for a concrete design model. The approach is of general use since all models are UML 2 models. We illustrate our approach using a case study for a simplified MOST audio system.

Using UML Collaboration Diagrams for Static Checking and Test Generation
Software testing can only be formalized and quanti ed when a solid basis for test generation can be de ned. Tests are commonly generated from program source code, graphical models of software (such as control ow graphs), and speci cations/requirements. UML collaboration diagrams represent a signi cant opportunity for testing because they precisely describe how the functions the software provide...
متن کاملQuantitative evaluation of software security: an approach based on UML/SecAM and evidence theory
Quantitative and model-based prediction of security in the architecture design stage facilitates early detection of design faults hence reducing modification costs in subsequent stages of software life cycle. However, an important question arises with respect to the accuracy of input parameters. In practice, security parameters can rarely be estimated accurately due to the lack of sufficient kn...
متن کاملAspect Oriented UML to ECORE Model Transformation
With the emerging concept of model transformation, information can be extracted from one or more source models to produce the target models. The conversion of these models can be done automatically with specific transformation languages. This conversion requires mapping between both models with the help of dynamic hash tables. Hash tables store reference links between the elements of the source...
متن کاملSemantic Models for XML Schema with UML Tooling
Design and use of XML Schemas are essential tasks in the software engineering process for many systems, but duplication and different naming and design rules in these schemas are major roadblocks for systems integration. An ontology-driven design approach is described that uses semantic models during the creation and management of XML schema vocabularies. UML models are used for model-driven de...
متن کاملA transformation approach for collaboration based requirement models
Distributed software engineering is widely recognized as a complex task. Among the inherent complexities is the process of obtaining a system design from its global requirement specification. This paper deals with such transformation process and suggests an approach to derive the behavior of a given system components, in the form of distributed Finite State Machines, from the global system requ...
